Understanding MTU & Fragmentation
Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) defines the largest packet size that can traverse a network path without fragmentation. In overlay networks with multiple encapsulation layers (VXLAN, IPsec, GRE), improper MTU configuration leads to silent packet drops and degraded performance.
